As Building Development Manager, Penny undertook a major
capital lottery project to convert a derelict 100 year old chapel in
St Albans into a theatre base, training and resource centre.
Having raised the required £2 million, she successfully project
managed the entire development and build, created the
business plan and established a community programme all on
time and on budget.

Refurbished and equipped the ex Guardian Newsroom in Farringdon Road to
house Freeword with eight other organisations creating the first UK home and
dedicated venue for literature, literacy and free expression. Negotiated the
lease with the landlords, the licences for the tenant groups, café and the
funding agreements and wrote the Three Year Plan.< span class="text9">
