Delivered courses in performance arts management as far a
field as Slovakia and is a regular tutor for the Goldsmiths
University of London MA Arts Administration and Cultural
Policy course and the BA Arts Management Course relating to
Arts Law, East 15 and the National Centre of Circus Arts.
Previously co-tutored the Independent Theatre Council,
Booking a Tour and Co-productions courses, the latter of which
she co-wrote with Katrina Duncan.
Bernie Grant Arts Centre
Course creation and delivery
Created and delivered the first ever BTEC National Certificate
in Arts Management at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre/CONEL in
Tottenham. All her mature students went on to employment in
arts management and three gained university places. One has
just qualified as a lawyer.
Founder member of Training Action Group which set up and
ran short courses in management for young performance arts
companies creating and tutoring courses for six years.
Other projects include a successful bid to Arts Council
London and establishment of the London Circus Venue
Alliance Group/City Circ and instigation of the Herts Arts
Company development work for Gecko, Proper Job, Vamos
Theatre, Clod Ensemble, Theatre Sans Frontieres, Citadel Arts
Centre, Horse & Bamboo, Trading Faces, Hoipolloi, JFK, Talia,
Full House and Actors of Dionysus.
Six years as Drama panel member of The Arts Council of
England ’91 - ’97, Chair of Projects Committee, Arts Council of
England ’95 - ’97, Performing Arts Panel member Eastern Arts

Penny was instrumental in establishing a funding stream for mime
and physical theatre at the Arts Council, instigating its move to
theatre from dance with ring-fenced funding.
